Carlos Caride Fitte

Specialist in criminal and exchange law

He has been practicing law since 1976 independently on issues related to Criminal Law with property content and has participated in numerous cases involving banking, financial, tax and exchange issues.
He was an advisor to the National Customs Administration, and to the Secretariat of Economic Programming of the Ministry of Economy of the Nation.
In 1977 he founded the Caride Fitte & Tombeur law firm, which he remained a member of until 1991 when he joined as partner in charge of the economic criminal area of the legal firm Severgnini, Robiola Grinberg & Tombeur. Finally, in 2020, he founded Caride Fitte & Grondona law firm.

Mariano Grondona

Specialist in criminal and business law

He has been practicing law since 2009, focusing his practice on the representation of complex criminal matters involving assets, both in defense and prosecution and in all stages of the procedure.
Before founding Caride Fitte & Grondona he was a partner in the criminal area of the Severgnini, Robiola, Grinberg & Tombeur law firm. He also worked at leading international law firms, in Spain at Cuatrecasas and in the United States at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett.
In the academic field, he obtained his law degree with a focus on criminal law at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), achieving the degree ofMagister in Business Law at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and completed a specialization in criminal law at the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA).
He is the author of several articles in renowned magazines specialized in criminal law.

Work experience

Carlos has a broad litigation background on criminal and economic criminal law matters, in all procedural instances; he acted as a defense lawyer before the Central Bank in several proceedings for the breach of foreign exchange rules, and before the Financial Intelligence Unit in administrative proceedings for breaches of the money laundering prevention duties; he assists companies and banks in the implementation of criminal compliance programs.
He took his first steps in leading law firms in the City of Buenos Aires such as Nicholson & Cano and Severgnini, Robiola, Grinberg & Tombeur.
Before joining CF & G Abogados, he assisted as an advisor in the Legal & Compliance area of a French Start-up based in Spain.

Gabriel Del Mazo

Specialist in administrative, financial and banking law

Graduated from the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires, he began his professional career in the National Judicial Branch, holding the positions of Secretary of Justice in Federal Civil and Commercial Matters (1988-1991) and Secretary of the National Court of Appeals in Federal Administrative Litigation (1991-1997).
From 1997 to 2018 he served at the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic, holding the positions of Principal Chief Lawyer of the Legal Studies and Opinions Area (1997-1999), Principal Manager of Legal Studies and Opinions (1999-2001). ), Principal Manager of Studies and Opinions of the Superintendence of Financial and Exchange Entities (2001-2010), Principal Manager (Advisor) of the General Management (2014) and Principal Manager of the Superintendency of Financial and Exchange Entities of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (2016-2018). Since 2019, he has been in charge of the legal office of the Association of Argentine Banks (ADEBA) and advises financial and exchange entities and companies issuing credit cards and dedicated to foreign trade, on issues related to banking and exchange law.
It is coauthor of several works on matters included in financial law: Comments on the reform of the Law of Financial Entities and the Organic Charter of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic; Banks in crisis, Liquidation of financial entities, treatment of credits; Responsibility of external auditors of financial entities; Legal protection of bank resolution processes; Legal protection for banking supervisors; The actions of the Central Bank in the liquidation, suspension and restructuring of financial entities in light of the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation and the sanctioning powers of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic.
As an expert in banking legislation, he participated in consultancies in several countries (Dominican Republic, Republic of El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador and Paraguay) that dealt with topics related to the financial system, such as: Banking legislation and regulation within the framework of Basel international standards; Diagnosis and design of the legal and regulatory framework for the implementation of safety networks of the financial system: Management of banking crises; Bank restructuring mechanisms, deposit insurance fund and liquidity and bank capitalization funds; Deposit and liquidity insurance fund for savings and credit cooperatives and Forex market regulation.
He taught administrative law classes. He was a speaker in national and international courses, conferences and seminars on aspects included in financial law (Banking secrecy, Financial security network, Sanctioning powers of the Central Bank, Responsibility of the legal advisors of the Central Bank, Financial corralito, Banking legal risk management , BCRA financial and exchange summaries, etc.).
Recently, he was a professor of the Financial Security Network subjects in the Postgraduate Course on Banking Regulation and Supervision that were taught at USAL and UCEMA and currently of the Financial Security Network of the Postgraduate Course on Administration and Management of Banking Entities at the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the UBA.
